Terms of Service

By using moneyscale.app (the "Site"), you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Site. That's it — there's no account to delete.

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Site. If you're under 18, please use it together with a parent or guardian.

Money Scale is a free educational website with personal-finance calculators, lessons, and a quiz. Calculators run in your browser. Lessons are short, plain-English explainers. The quiz is just for fun and learning.

You agree not to:

• Use the Site for anything illegal or harmful.
• Try to break, overload, scrape, or bypass security on the Site.
• Reverse-engineer the Site to copy it wholesale.
• Use the Site to harass anyone, including via the leaderboard nickname field. We may remove leaderboard entries that are offensive, impersonate someone, or contain personal information about others.
• Submit content you don't have the right to submit.

The Site, its design, logos, calculators, lesson copy, and original code are owned by Money Scale or its licensors and are protected by copyright and other laws. You may use the Site for personal, non-commercial educational purposes. You may share screenshots and short quotes with attribution to Money Scale.

Trademarks and logos of third parties (Google, etc.) are the property of their respective owners. References to them are nominative and do not imply endorsement.

The Site may show ads served by Google AdSense, link to external sources cited in lessons and calculators, or embed content from third parties. We don't control those third parties. Their content is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. Linking to a source is not an endorsement of every claim or product on that source.

The Site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that calculator results, sources, or projections are accurate or current.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Money Scale, its contributors, and licensors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenues, data, or goodwill arising from your use of the Site.

Our total cumulative liability to you for any claim related to the Site is capped at the greater of (a) US $100 or (b) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Money Scale is free, so this is effectively US $100.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitation of liability for consequential or incidental damages, so some of the above may not apply to you.

You can stop using the Site at any time. We can suspend or terminate access at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you've violated these Terms or if we need to protect the Site or other users.

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and, where reasonably possible, give at least 30 days of notice on this page before the change takes effect. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms.

These Terms, and any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the Site, are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply.

Money Scale respects intellectual property rights and responds to clear notices of alleged copyright infringement under the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. §512). If you believe content on the Site infringes your copyright, send a written notice to our designated agent at hello@moneyscale.app (subject line: "DMCA Notice").

To be effective under 17 U.S.C. §512(c)(3), your notice must include all of the following:

1. A physical or electronic signature of a person authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner.
2. Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed.
3. Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing and information reasonably sufficient to permit us to locate it (typically a URL).
4. Your name, address, telephone number, and email address.
5. A statement that you have a good-faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
6. A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notification is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or are authorized to act on the owner's behalf.

We may forward your notice (including your contact information) to the affected party and may publish redacted versions for transparency. Knowingly making material misrepresentations in a DMCA notice or counter-notice can subject you to liability under 17 U.S.C. §512(f). Repeat infringers may be terminated.

You may not access or use the Site from any country, region, or by any person subject to comprehensive U.S. trade sanctions (including, currently, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, and the Crimea, Donetsk, and Luhansk regions of Ukraine), and you represent that you are not on the U.S. Treasury OFAC Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) list or any equivalent restricted-party list.
